Faulkner and Me in the Quarter

Come spend the day together Bill
and walk a while with me
do sit a spell, your tales to tell
there's myriads to see.

Familiar haunts will carry us
beyond the beaten trail
not hill and dale
yet none the less
our spirits will prevail.

You'll whisper clear "no here, no there,
don't miss that little spot."
The time is bare enough
'tis true to show me
what you've got.

I've heard your voice
I know it well
come walk a while with
me and whisper soft the
stories then
that we shall plainly see.

Counting backward...Day 365

Well, today is the day. I will not cry, because for one reason he's only going as far as Georgia today and by comparison that's a lot less threatening than when he leaves for Afghanistan.

I also support his search for whatever it is that he's looking for that will carry him there and will hold him in prayer as he goes.

I will celebrate his courage, and send him mine when he is tired, send him love when he is lonely, for surely love is not too strong a word for someone to send another in that situation. Love of country and the love of the people who provide it (in the field) are one and the same for me.

Nope, no tears, lest they be tears of joy that in beginning to leave he is also closer to returning and that if not to me, to his children, grandchildren and students, which is by far reason enough for joy.

Salute...

June 9, 2007

Today’s word is ‘font’. I feel like I should be writing and when I opened the page, ‘font’ became an important issue, this is not a Times New Roman message. I don’t know what kind of message it will become but am open to receiving the lessons from the Universe as they appear.

Last day: Today is Bob’s last day before he leaves for Georgia to go to Ft. Benning. I saw that Choya had posted the video interview from the Dallas television station clip and article on his MySpace page. It is a staggering realization to be associated even peripherally to such a choice as his, almost profound. To see the man that I have seen and known, for three weeks only, in several different contexts evolve in almost chameleonlike fashion from a Mozart’s Don Giovanni to LTC RTB. My eyes glisten with tears of humility and pride to have met such a man and I look forward to our continued correspondence when possible as he deploys for Afghanistan in the weeks ahead. Godspeed LTC, B&A, Sgt. Pilgrim.

Here' s the deal...

Girl meets Guy (how original)…
Guy ‘likes’ Girl….
Girl ‘likes’ Guy…

Intimate details of ‘liking’ left to imagination of reader

Caveat…Guy leaving for Afghanistan in 72 hours (they met May 14)

Girl sends somewhat beat around the bush email regarding ‘what now’…
Guy sends somewhat beat around the bush email about that subject being too profound for email…would call/discuss (refer to 72 hour countdown)

This morning…girl has inspiration and advice from friend who is also Saggitarian and explained that those people are very in the moment and have to be reminded that the rest of the world may be otherwise….

Girl sends second email this morning…

This morning, reflecting on my 'prose' yesterday and the comments I have received from a friend who is a guy 'somewhere', I don't recall where just this minute. Anyway, it came to me that in nature, male birds are the ones with the plummage and fanfare in dancing and rituals and that based on all of that display the female chooses who to select/accept. So, for me, what that means is that based on what I have observed of your ritual dancing *smile* I would accept/select you. Seems so simple.

Since I haven't been out and about as have you with dating and relatinships I have researched, observed and concluded that 1. previous patterns/types were losers and 2. having something in common with a partner significantly increases the satisfaction of the relationship, ergo I began to 'list' our commonalities and so far have come up with: comparable basic rhythms/biorhythms (sleep/wake patterns), basic values/beliefs (the importance of God, family, country), intellectually stimulated by areas of own interest as well as that of others, appreciation for other cultures/travel/languages, financially conservative, healthy habits, affectionate/cuddly, sexy, articulate, attractive, .....damn, does it get any better LOL ?

Happy day. Patsy
